City of North Chicago Receives Two APWA Project of the Year Awards

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the City of North Chicago was honored with two APWA Lake Branch Project of the Year Awards. Scott Trotter and members of the TAI staff celebrated this achievement alongside city representatives and project contractors.


The first award recognized the Transmission Main Project at 16th Street and Kemble Avenue as Project of the Year - Environmental - $5M - $25M. This project included over 10,000 feet of new water main, 39 fire hydrants, 16 ADA-compliant intersections, and the replacement of 81 lead service lines. Campanella and Sons, Inc. was also acknowledged with the Contractor of the Year Award for their work on this project. The collaboration among all contractors allowed the project to be completed ahead of schedule and under budget.


The City of North Chicago’s second award, for the Water Treatment Plant Renovation won Project of the Year – Structures - $5M to $25M. This renovation included roof replacement, brick wall restoration, reconstruction of deteriorated masonry walls, replacement of windows and overhead doors, and upgrades to the ventilation and air handling systems. The project exemplified teamwork, as there were no service disruptions for residents or businesses during construction, and it was delivered on time and under budget. The project team included Trotter and Associates, Inc., Hutchinson Design Group, Ltd., Bennett & Brosseau Roofing, Inc., Alpine LLC, Restore Works Masonry Restoration, Air Con Refrigeration & Heating, Inc., Classic Touch Painting, Inc., and DeFranco Plumbing.
