The DeKalb Sanitary District collection system is subject to heavy infiltration and inflow. As such the District has excess flow facilities and performs effluent blending during wet weather conditions. The District’s excess flow facilities include clarifiers followed by Zimpro deep bed filters. During an extreme event in 2008, the filter cores failed. TAI worked with the District and Siemens to perform an emergency repair of the facility which included complete rehabilitation of the filter beds and replacement of approximately 10% of the cores/screens and structural members.
